Dr. Hunter reported 63 participants and 9 vendors have registered for the winter meeting. Given the capacity of 75 participants and the fact that registrations are still arriving, the meeting should fill again this year.
Dr. Branford mentioned that Jessica Osbourne, certified veterinary practice manager at Lincoln Heights, has been facilitating a group for managers for the past three years. The group has proven to be of great benefit. Contact information will run at the end of each newsletter.
Dr. McEntire announced that the criteria for the association’s additional scholarships have been determined. The Dr. Linda Wood communication scholarship will go to a third-year student chosen by the clinical communication staff and faculty. The Dr. Dick Whipps scholarship will go to an incoming freshman with financial need from the Inland Empire area. The Dr. Kent McVey Memorial Scholarship will go to a second- or third-year student with an interest in general small animal medicine. Students from the Inland Empire will receive preference and the McVey family is matching the association’s $1K.
Elections will be held at the next meeting. Dr. Hunter wishes to relinquish his position as president and mentor his successor for the next several years. If you are interested in serving as president or running for any other office, please contact an officer prior to the April meeting.
