The Department of Health, Health Systems Quality Assurance Division (HSQA), is accepting applications to fill a veterinary member vacancy on the Veterinary Board of Governors.  We are looking for public-spirited people willing to study the issues and to make decisions in the public’s best interest.

The Veterinary Board of Governors operates under legislative mandate to:

  • Protect the health and safety of the public.
  • Promote the welfare of the state by regulating the competency and quality of health care providers under their authority.

The Veterinary Board of Governors is made up of five licensed veterinarians, one licensed veterinary technician, and one public member, all appointed by the governor. Members’ responsibilities may include policy making, writing advisory opinions and rules, reviewing investigations, and participating in disciplinary hearings and charging panels. The Board meets approximately four times each year. Historically, meetings have been scheduled on the first Monday in the months of March, June, September, and December. Members also participate in conference calls.
